Mrs. Jeanne Venecia is the Interim Superintendent for Mercedes ISD.  An educator for 27 years, Mrs. Venecia has served as a director, high school principal, assistant principal, elementary and high school counselor, and a sixth grade teacher.  Mrs. Venecia believes partnerships with parents, community, and local colleges are essential in enriching the experience at Mercedes ISD and attaining life-long educational success.  Under her leadership, Mercedes Early College Academy was on the Texas Honor Roll, was named as a Best High School in the Nation and State by US News and World Report, was a recipient of the College Success Award, and was named as an Exemplary High Performing 2018 National Blue Ribbon School. Mrs. Venecia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Health, a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling, and a Leadership Certification from the University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA).
