Mercedes Independent School District is proud to celebrate Mercedes High School RGV LEAD Ambassador Brianna Hernandez for her outstanding initiative and achievement. Brianna was recently awarded $400 by RGV LEAD and partners at the National Contribution Project to bring her vision of promoting school pride and inclusion to life as part of an RGV LEAD initiative.
Over the past two months, RGV LEAD has made significant efforts to connect with national organizations that offer students unique opportunities to enhance their interpersonal skills, engage with their communities, and expand their networks. Through their partnership with the National Contribution Project, at least 20 RGV LEAD Ambassadors have been selected to receive funding for community or school contribution projects, and Brianna’s proposal stood out among the best.
Brianna’s project focuses on restoring Tiger Lane’s iconic Tiger Paws, a cherished symbol of Mercedes High School’s spirit. Her idea involves repainting the Tiger Paws with the help of school organizations and the Class of 2025, allowing seniors to “Adopt a Senior Paw” by adding their names and graduation year to the design. This effort not only strengthen school pride but also foster a sense of ownership and inclusion among students.
Congratulations to Brianna and the Mercedes High School RGV LEAD Ambassadors for their inspiring efforts to make a difference. Their hard work reflects the core values of RGV LEAD and Mercedes ISD. We are proud to support their achievements and look forward to seeing Tiger Lane shine brighter than ever.
