You may have heard about the federal administration’s plans concerning ICE agents potentially entering school grounds. Please rest assured that at Mercedes ISD, the safety and well-being of our students are our utmost priorities. We are committed to creating a safe and secure environment where every child can learn without fear.
In light of these concerns, we want to reassure you that Mercedes ISD will take all legal steps available to the district to uphold our students’ safety and privacy. Our district policies strictly prohibit any unauthorized individuals, including federal agents, from entering our schools and/or obtaining information without proper legal authority and documentation.
We understand the importance of maintaining a supportive and welcoming environment for all students, regardless of their background or immigration status. We encourage any families who have specific concerns or questions to reach out to our Office of Safe Schools at 956-825-5075 or their child’s school for further information and support.
