Unlocking their leadership potential! 🌟
RGV LEAD Student Ambassadors from Mercedes Early College Academy attended a Fall Leadership Workshop at South Texas College’s Pecan campus today. Students Berenice Cavazos and Andrea Trevino received certificates for their roles as Masters of Ceremonies during the Leadership Conference. 🎤👏
These Ambassadors not only honed their leadership skills but also networked and collaborated with peers from school districts across the Rio Grande Valley. Well done, Student Ambassadors! RGV LEAD is a nonprofit organization that prepares students for college and their future careers by connecting their K-12 partners with institutions of higher education. #MISDpride #MISDdrive #MISDsuccess

Mercedes ISD Health Services has been holding CPR demonstrations for Mercedes High School students to prepare and empower them with skills that can assist during an emergency.
Today ninth graders learned that they can effectively help keep someone’s heart beating until trained medical staff arrive on site. Our health services department and school nurses are dedicated to reviewing CPR and AED use because they know lives can be changed with this knowledge. #MISDpride #MISDhealthservices

Middle School Band Night is one MIGHTY tradition with nearly 170 seventh and eighth grade students participating this year! 🎉🐅👏

It's National School Bus Safety Week and we are grateful for all the hard work our Transportation department does to ensure that our students arrive safely to and from school and their activities. 🚍💛
Mercedes ISD bus drivers visited campuses to review the importance of bus safety with our riders, like how to exit the bus in a safe and orderly manner. Thank you again for keeping our most precious cargo safe – our students! #MISDpride

Mercedes students welcomed alumna and author Tessie Ledesma as she read and answered questions about her first children's book
"Polly the Possum" during today's elementary school book tour. 📚✨
"Polly the Possum" is a book that celebrates self-acceptance and it was a joy to see our students engaged in the process of book creation with someone who once walked through the very same hallways. #MISDpride #MISDdrive #MISDalumni

MISD students were able to connect with 50+ recruiters today at the TACRAO College, Career and Military Fair held at the MHS gymnasium. There were some great conversations about post-high school pathways and we are grateful for all the professionals who spoke to our students about their future goals. 🎓🌟
A special shout out to GEAR UP facilitators Yvette Reyes and Adela Davila for organizing this event and all Mercedes educators and staff for helping students explore the vast opportunities that are available to them.

MISD was recently awarded a grant from the 'Living for Zachary' Foundation that provided three AED machines for our Tiger Athletic Training program. We are grateful that this grant will allow our athletic trainers to have the life-saving equipment to accompany their skills at every event.
A special thank you to Lead Athletic Trainer Jaime Garcia for his dedicated efforts on behalf of the MISD family in securing the grant.✨ Tiger athletic trainers are always prepared by having CPR certifications and an AED onsite.
Living for Zachary has impacted thousands of families and children across Texas through youth heart screenings, AED donations, CPR/AED certification classes, scholarships and awareness events. To learn more, visit livingforzachary.org.

Yesterday we welcomed MISD staff, parents and community members to the October School Board meeting. The beginning of the meeting was spent celebrating success while honoring students and staff across our district.
We want to congratulate everyone who was recognized for all their achievements and dedication. 👏👏
