Our district and campus personnel engage in medical emergency response team drills throughout the academic year to equip them with the skills needed for an effective response to medical emergencies. Earlier this week, the Mercedes ISD Medical Emergency Response Team conducted a comprehensive drill at the Mercedes Early College Academy. This simulation provided a valuable opportunity for staff to review and evaluate response procedures in the context of emergency scenarios. This ongoing commitment to preparedness ensures a prompt and coordinated response when faced with critical situations. The drill, overseen by District Nurse Veronica Bustamante, RN, had the participation of MECA Principal Ramon Mejia, MECA nurse Judy Hernandez, LVN, Department of Safe Schools staff, and included a teacher and student. GEAR UP students from Mercedes High School and Mercedes Early Collège Academy had the opportunity to attend TSTC's Discovery Day, where they learned about the diverse technical education programs offered by the college and engaged in hands-on experiences. 🛠️🩺🖥📚 Discovery Day is a great resource to help our students find the path that will help them secure the education and training needed for their future careers. 🌟🎓

Mercedes Mighty Tiger musicians traveled to Harlingen today to participate in an all-day rehearsal for the Region 28 TMEA All-Region Orchestra Clinic and Concert. 🎻🎹🌟 Tomorrow will include another five hours of rehearsal and then the students will take the stage for their much-anticipated concert. The concert will begin at 5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Harlingen Performing Arts Center.

GEAR UP will be in the Mercedes High School Go Center on Wednesday, November 29 at 5:30 p.m. to assist in the process. Here's what you'll need: 🔹 Head to the Go Center (Enter through the cafeteria area) 🔹 Bring your e-mail and phone number for the process 🔹 Please note: You can only create an FSA ID with a social security number at this time. Parents/guardians without a social security number will need to wait for the FAFSA official opening. Students without a social security number can apply for the TASFA, which opens alongside FAFSA.
