Suicide is a serious public health problem. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a person commits suicide every 11 minutes in the United States, making it a leading cause of death in this country ā especially among teens and young adults. September is Suicide Prevention Month and students across the district (Travis Elementary, Sgt. Harrell MS, Sgt. Chacon MS, Mercedes Early College Academy and Mercedes Academic Academy) participated in South Texas Health System Behavioral Chalk the Walk. Their goal was to write words of hope and inspiration for all who come to their campus. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a counselor or dial the suicide hotline at 988. #sthschalkthewalk

Mercedes ISD will have a District Calendar Artwork Contest.
We are asking students to submit a drawing of their favorite school-related activity or holiday for a chance to be featured in our 2023-2024 School Calendar!
The contest will take place from July 17, 2023, to July 21, 2023
Please note: No entries will be accepted after July 21, 2023
Students can drop off their drawings at their designated campus during this period.
