Congratulations to our senior Lady Tigers for being selected to play in the 21st Annual RGV All-Star game! 🏐🐾 Jackie Bibian (outside hitter), De’Asia Brown (setter), and Leah Adame (outside hitter) will proudly represent Mercedes among other Valley athletes on the 5A East team. The game will be played at the McAllen High School gymnasium this Sunday, December 10 at 2 p.m.

Hats off to the talented students from Ruben Hinojosa Elementary School for their outstanding performances during their Handbell Christmas Tour! 🔔🎶 Students spread some holiday cheer by visiting area adult day care centers and were treated to lunch at Peter Piper Pizza after their performances! Let's give a big round of applause to everyone involved in making this day memorable for our students and community.

Mercedes Academic Academy students are well on their way to "making spirits bright" for Mercedes senior citizens with their Second Annual Santa for Seniors initiative. 🎁🎄Donation boxes have been placed at each campus as well as the Administration Building on behalf of all MAA students and the MAA Student Council. Last year, students proudly presented two gifts to each resident of the Mid Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, thanks to the generosity of our community. What an amazing show of support!

Empowering Minds Together! 💡📚 Thank you to all the parents and families who joined us last evening at the Gifted & Talented Program Parent Informational Meeting held at the MISD Auditorium. It provided a great opportunity for our parents to hear from and engage with Elementary Curriculum Director Evangelina O. The "Cuentos de las Mariposas" Virtual Family Meetings series continues this Thursday, Dec. 7 with guest speaker Gina Moraida from RGV Focus presenting "Understanding Financial Aid." Parents are welcomed to view the meeting at Mercedes High School with our parental liaison.🎓💡 The three-part virtual series supports parents and families on their child’s journey toward high school graduation and beyond. Mercedes Mighty Tiger musicians traveled to Harlingen today to participate in an all-day rehearsal for the Region 28 TMEA All-Region Orchestra Clinic and Concert. 🎻🎹🌟 Tomorrow will include another five hours of rehearsal and then the students will take the stage for their much-anticipated concert. The concert will begin at 5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Harlingen Performing Arts Center.

Mercedes ISD hosted their Fall CTE Advisory Committee meeting this morning, welcoming community and industry partners, School Board trustees, district and campus administrators, CTE educators and students. Committee members had the opportunity to experience firsthand what our CTE students learn in the different programs of study. A special shout out to our RGV LEAD Ambassadors and FFA students for displaying Tiger hospitality and leadership as they escorted guests to different CTE classes. Thank you to all in attendance for supporting CTE at MISD and for taking time to come together to discuss our program offerings, alignment with industry demand, and plans for the future.

It’s Science Fair time! 🔬🧲🌟 Students in the third to fifth grade from Kennedy Elementary School showcased their science projects, which were judged on their design, methodology, data and presentation. Along with enriching our students’ knowledge and experience with the scientific method, the Science Fair offered students a chance to share their ideas and methods with classmates and teachers.
